Checked 11 August 2026 · Hong Kong Dog Outing Guide

Before taking a dog to a Hong Kong restaurant, check the venue first.

Use FEHD’s current information, confirm the restaurant’s arrangements on the day, then prepare for leash control, water, comfort and an easy exit if needed.

A practical preparation guide, not a restaurant directory, legal advice or an admission guarantee.

Start With The Venue

Check FEHD’s current list and the restaurant’s own notices before you go.

Open the FEHD List of Food Premises Permitted for Dog Entry, then contact the venue to confirm its same-day arrangements. A permitted restaurant may set its own house rules, including dog-friendly zones or sessions, and may decide whether to admit a dog based on its current arrangements.

Confirm the current arrangement

Ask whether dogs are accepted that day, whether a booking is required, where dogs may sit and whether there are limits for the party or dog.

Grooming does not replace venue checks

Simple coat and paw cleaning can be useful outing preparation, but a grooming appointment does not replace the official and venue checks.

Before You Leave

Five practical checks for a calmer outing.

Only take a dog that can be safely cared for on the day. A shorter outing or a change of plan is better than forcing a dog to stay in heat, noise or an unfamiliar crowd.

Leash

Keep proper control

For public walks, AFCD advises keeping a dog on a leash and under proper control. Bring a leash that the dog already knows.

Water & Weather

Plan for Hong Kong heat

On hot and humid days, choose a cooler time, bring water, avoid excessive exertion and never leave a dog in a parked car.

Clean & Comfort

Bring the basics

Brush away loose hair if appropriate, clean obvious dirt from paws and bring waste bags and an absorbent towel. A full groom is not a prerequisite for every outing.

Emotional State

Leave when the dog is uncomfortable

If a dog is anxious around strangers, noise or crowds, choose a shorter plan that can be left easily. Do not make it stay simply for “socialisation”.

Health

Pause if the dog seems unwell

If a dog appears unwell or cannot be comfortably managed that day, postpone the outing and seek appropriate veterinary advice rather than forcing the plan.

Emergency Information

Suspected ingestion or sudden illness: contact a 24-hour veterinarian promptly.

This is emergency contact information, not a diagnosis. If you suspect toxic ingestion, a swallowed object, breathing difficulty, collapse or seizures, do not wait for a grooming reply.

Do not attempt to induce vomiting yourself

Do not attempt to induce vomiting unless a veterinarian has advised you to. The appropriate response depends on the object and the pet’s condition. Read why at-home vomiting can be dangerous.

Emergency services are provided by an independent veterinary practice. Furrari Grooming does not provide veterinary diagnosis, emergency treatment or a referral guarantee.

  2. Plan everyday coat and paw careBathing, brushing and nail care should match coat condition and the dog’s response, not one restaurant visit.
  3. Respect sensitivity to new environmentsFor dogs sensitive to noise, people or unfamiliar handling, use a shorter plan and share the actual triggers before grooming.
